Dont mind my rantings as I voice out my unhappiness towards uncivic-minded Singaporeans.
My usual after work routine is to wait for a cab along Kaki Bukit Ave so that I do not have to take the bus bustling with people & spend my time getting irritated with ignorant people who would not give their seats up to pregnant women like me. So on that fateful Wednesday (2 days ago), as usual, I waited at my usual spot for a cab. Then came along a couple who stood a few metres away also waiting for a cab. They stood in the direction where the cabs would be coming from so that any cabs that drive past would notice them first instead of me. My first reaction was to get mad as I was there first but I decided to calm down & not be judgemental towards them. "Maybe, if a cab comes along, they wont flag it considering that they are aware that I had been standing there before them & that my tummy looks as though a baby is about to pop out at any time.." After 20mins of waiting, a cab came along. I flagged it down. Then within seconds, the couple also flagged the cab down. The cab stopped for the couple instead of for me although I was the one who flagged it first. When the cab picked the couple up, & stopped infront of me (the traffic light was red so they had to stop), I literally stared at the passengers inside the cab. Being gracious, he actually asked the cab driver if he should go down & give in to me. The cab driver's response "No need, you didnt know she was standing there what..." Then what the hell was I standing there for?? Waiting for the moon to drop????
I got so infuriated that I took out my mobile to lodge a complaint against cab driver 6542M. 1st, he CHOSE his passengers. 2nd,he actually responded that way to the passenger's question. The officer in charge will be investigating the matter & he will get back to me in 2 weeks time.
Where have all the civic minded Singaporeans disappeared to? What if at that point of time I was actually waiting for a cab to take me to the hospital? And who is the driver to judge whether a passenger should go down or not & give way to other passengers?
I believe I am not being a typical Singaporean who complains practically about anything & everything under the sun. My complains are justified.
There.
I have let my steam out.
Shall await the response from the officer. He better.........
